AP Chemistry: Preparing A Laboratory Report

 

When you complete your lab report it will include the following sections.

 

               I.      Title:  the title should tell exactly what you are studying.  Use your imagination.

 

             II.      Purpose:  this section should state the problem you are investigating.  What is it that you are attempting to accomplish?   What are you trying to find out and how?  Your entire report must relate to this problem

 

 

            III.      Procedure:  Summarize the various steps you performed in the experiment this should not be a copy of my instructions!

 

         IV.      Data:  Include any data tables, charts, and/or graphs.  Each measurement must be in significant figures and labeled.

 

           V.      Calculations:  All calculations will be included with the lab report

 

 

         VI.      Analysis questions:  Here answer questions I give you, in complete sentences with part of the question in the answer.

 

               I.      Conclusion:  What does the data mean?  Does the data support your expected results?  Were there any sources of error?  Here you will interpret your results.  Make each conclusion specific.
